Week 4 : The Proposal Report

Objective: To discuss on how to proceed with the proposal report.

Analysis/Procedure:

Today, I visit my supervisor, Madam Hidayah, seeking about the proposal report. She explained briefly about the report and what should be in it. Below are the list needed in the proposal report that is essential; 

1. Title Page 
2. Abstract 
3. Table of Contents 
4. Introduction 
5. Problem Statement 
6. Literature Review ( A few of previous project)
7. Methodology 
8. Objectives 
9. Benefits/ Contributions 
10. Work Plan for FYP 1 and FYP 2
11. Budget ( if any )
12. Conclusion 
13. References 

Then, I explained what I have been researching about my project. She also suggested that we should start on doing the proposal early as not being stranded at the last weeks of the semester.

Conclusion:

Further research is needed and I have to list certain components for my project.

Week 3 : The Title

Objective: To choose the project title

Analysis/Procedure:

After doing some discussion with my supervisor and with her assistance on my final year project, I have decided the project which is:

"Designing of Motor Operated Control System Using Android Smartphone". 

The brief introductory: 

The project is designing of motor operated control system such as  fan using an Android-based smartphone. In home automation-related applications, the convenience of remotely controlling the speed of a fan can be achieved. The remote operation can be achieve by any smart-phone with an Android OS and a GUI (Graphical User Interface) based touchscreen operation. The mobile devices act as a transmitter through Bluetooth ; the transmitted data is the receive by a bluetooth receiver (at receiver end) interfaced to the microcontroller of the 8051 family. Furthermore, this project still can be enhanced by adding more outputs from the microcontroller feeding relay drivers to switch on and off the domestic loads together with the speed control of fan.

Week 2 : The Supervisor

Objective: To find and register a supervisor whom can asses on my project.

Analysis/Procedure:

Today, I scouted for a lecturer to be my supervisor for my Final Year Project, preferably from the Electrical Section.Most of the preferable lecturers are unavailable to be my supervisor because the they had reached the allocated number of students for each lecturer. As for that, searching process keep going to the other section and luckily, Madam Hidayah from Communication Section is available and quickly I asked her to be my supervisor. She agreed and requested me to find a few ideas of project to be discuss about. The deadline for finding a supervisor extended until week 3. Hence, I have only a week for finding a title. .

Week 1 : The Briefing

The first week of S1/2016 semester started. All FYP 1 candidates have to attend the briefing held by a few of FYP committees at the TTL hall. Here are some of the contents obtained during the briefing:

• All students must find the supervisor of their choice.
• The FYP title must suitable and be submitted to the supervisor which is then registered to the FYP website (fyp.bmi.unikl.edu.my).
• Any progresses must be reported to the supervisor and recorded in a blog/logbook.
• List of title and requirement in the report. 
• The title of our project must be registered until Week 3.
